FAQ

When to grind your skis?

The manufacturer Wintersteiger recommends sharpening after every 50 hours of skiing/SNB.

Ice and rocks will scratch the slide and damage the edges. This significantly reduces the ability of skis or snowboards to turn and slide. This means that you have to exert more force and you will get tired faster. Unsharpened skis become dangerous on icy surfaces and increase the likelihood of injury.

Why to take care of your edges?

A burr is formed on every edge when skiing, which needs to be removed for two basic reasons:

  1. the ski does not hold on hard ground, it becomes unstable and unmanageable
  2. if the burr is not removed in time, it turns into a round edge, which means: 1. much more material must be removed during subsequent servicing, 2. the service life of the ski is significantly reduced
Why to wax the base?

The wax on the base reduces friction, prevents snow from sticking to the base and significantly increases sliding properties.

Why to fix scratches on the base?

Early repair reduces the risk of edge tearing and improves sliding properties.

Why is structure important?

Different structures correspond to different temperatures and snow conditions, it prevents the penetration of moisture into the slide and the friction between the snow and the base, which significantly contributes to better sliding of the skis.

Why adjust bindings?

Since the binding is exposed to outdoor conditions and temperature differences, it is necessary to check at least once a year that the material has not fatigued and that all its mechanical parts are fully functional – this ensures safe opening of the binding in the event of a fall.
